Lecture 1: Introductory Lecture, sets out goals of the course, motivational issues related to research, technical issues regarding course content and format, video-conferencing. Hints regarding choice of topic, plagiarism, etc.
Lecture 2: Western economics is concerned with growth in GNP per capita, or wealth, while Islam does not consider this as a goal. A comparison and evaluation of the two approaches is carried out in this lecture.
